CHOLLA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTO MEETING MINUTES

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY: Blaze Criqui

Blaze Criqui , Omar Elliott, Nicole Perez, Sherri Cirqui and Kay Steward

Treasurer's  Report

Balance as of 8/31/09 is $6967.60

Old Business

PTO presented the budget from last year school year and a estimated budget for this school year. Funds are limited. It was approved that money raised this school year will go towards technology items for classrooms. Also approved was the cancelation of the Spring Carnival if funds are not available. In the event  the Carnival is canceled it will then be held in the Fall of 2010.

 PTO was able to fully fund the MACRO program for 3rd grade this school year.

Committee Reports

Family Fun Night

Kinder Social has been moved to November, Kay will look into a possible date.

Cold Stone Night will be held on 9/28/09.

First Bingo night will be held on 10/29/09 with a Football theme. Each grade level will seek donations from parents to create prize baskets. The goal is to have 1 full basket per grade level. Blaze will obtain the Blackout Prize.

Hospitality

Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for 10/8/09 and 10/9/09. PTO will provide dinner and lunch.

Fundraising

Fiesta Fundraising will kick off with an assembly on 9/21/09.

New Business

A new Vice President  was elected. Omar Elliot will serve and fill the elected term  for two years.

Lori Madoneczky has volunteered to head the Box Top committee. Before handing it over, Sherri will renew our EScript and all other retail store programs subscriptions. PTO has 11,000+ points available through the Campbell Soup Program . Sherri will give Kay the catalog so the staff can select items. Some ideas were given to motivate students to participate in Box Tops. Some of these ideas were monthly announcements, random drawings, lollipops or certificates given to students who participate.

Open Floor

$100.00 was approved for various supplies for the Teachers Lounge. Ms. Blixt will purchase items and PTO will reimburse her.

Blaze will contact Mrs. Sanchez to check and see if she will need PTO's assistance for the upcoming book Fair.

Kindergarten asked PTO to sponsor animal handler "Wild Bill" to perform  in September. Due to lack of funds PTO informed the 2 teachers that were present that PTO can sponsor the performer, however PTO would not be able to then fund a field trip later on in the year. The 2 teachers were going to discuss the  options and inform PTO of a their decision ASAP.
